August 14, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

About the Speaker
Farzad Hejazi is a PhD in Structural Engineering and tenured professor at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He is also a Chartered Structural Engineer from the Institution of Structural Engineers (United Kingdom). With 20 years of experience in teaching, research, and industry, Farzad has served as the Innovation and Research Coordinator for the Faculty of Engineering, UPM for more than 8 years, after being trained by the Stanford Research Institute. He is also an Expert Witness in the High Court for cases involving collapsed buildings and bridges.
During his tenure, Farzad has managed and supervised a research team consisting of 40 PhD students and over 100 Master’s students. He has been involved in numerous high-impact research and industry projects, securing over $5 million in funding from government agencies and industrial companies.
His teaching experiences have been published as 7 books by Springer and Taylor & Francis, which widely used in teaching for universities and by design engineers. Additionally, his research has been published through more than 150 scientific research papers in high-impact ISI journals.
Farzad’s innovations have led to the filing and granting of over 15 patents in the USA, Japan, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, and Malaysia. Four of these patents, related to vibration dissipation devices, have been licensed to the industry for mass production and implementation in construction projects for bridges and structures.
