Intellectual Properties for Engineering Novel Ideas/Products & How to Commercialize Them (Patent/Industrial Design/Copy right))

About the Speaker
Farzad Hejazi holds a PhD in Structural Engineering and is a tenured professor at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He is also a Chartered Structural Engineer (UK) and an Expert Witness in the High Court of Construction. His expertise in innovation commercialization was further refined through training by Stanford Research International (SRI) in Silicon Valley, where he was certified as an Innovation Champion and University Liaison Officer for commercialization of intellectual properties and novel engineering products. With his background in intellectual property (IP) management, Dr. Hejazi has served as Patent Writer and Patent Evaluation Expert at the Research Management Centre, assessing IP submissions from researchers and academics in the engineering field. Also, for over eight years, he has served as the Innovation and Research Coordinator for the Faculty of Engineering, promoting new products and facilitating knowledge transfer between academia and industry.
He has been granted more than 15 patents for his own products development (Structural vibration damping systems) in countries such as the USA, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, and Malaysia. Additionally, four of his innovative products have already been successfully commercialized and are in mass production.
